If they haven't you should plan on adding a hollow steel bar under the belly of the desk and under the fader panel. On the frame sag issue - perhaps the current owner has reinforced the frame - you should check on that. and at this point in its history it would be good to find out if the electrolytic capacitors have been changed or not!! - if they haven't been - and if you'd like the desk to sound as good as it should - plan on swapping out the electrolytics if you would like the thing to live up to its potential. There are some frame sag issues that can develop over time. I had one for a while and it was a great sounding desk. Power consumption probably around 700 or 800 Watts total.Īs you can handle a soldering iron there should not be a great deal to fear with this desk as it is pretty 'old school' and not microscopic components that you can't see. They should be fixable if necessary if your tech can work from schematics. The Audio Kinetics automation was bought in and fitted by AMEK so in some respects you are on your own with that although they were pretty common at the time. Recapping with possible 'updates' will probably be necessary but the boards are relatively easy to work on, just tedious! You can do this as funds and time allow. Replacing them can be a bit expensive if they have failed but they are better than the 'cheap' fans. You want to be planning to have the power supplies in a 'machine room' as the fans are I think 'medium noisy' assuming they are the decent PAPST 'low noise' types in an original 2000 series power supplies (the proper ones with a monstrous toroidal transformer in them). Nice to know there is some one around near since i believe it`s a big project and at some point i am sure i will need help. How much power/Watt does that board / 48 channels take?Īnd to jensenmann: Danke, i think i will have to call you at some time. How loud are the to power supplies ?( from 1 kind of nothing to 10 Boeing 747 ) I will have a look at it next week and see how good she ( it`s a she isn`t it ) is technically. As far as the tech said there are some pots, which are hard to turn since some channels where never used at all ! It will come with a audio kinects automation ( should be working ). There will be all the original print with it: Manual technical docs etc. It is the console of a professional artist you all know, but cant say his name sorry, but anyway it is still in use an he bought it first hand in the 80`. I`m into electronics/soldering as well, not professional but i think from that point it should be working, since i just fixed my Yamaha CS50`s broken power supply and retuned all of the filters, osc, adsr with the oscilloscope. Even it seems all of you are sort of techi`s.
